ACUA Gives Back!

The Phoenix Host Committee invites you to join us with the ACUA Gives Back project!
Arizona State University Pitchfork Pantry.


During the conference, the host committee, on behalf of ACUA, will collect non-perishable food donations for the Arizona State University Pitchfork Pantry, a student-led on-campus food pantry. The donation bin will be available throughout the conference.


Please pack a couple canned goods or other non-perishable food items into your suitcase. Or, pick up something while you’re exploring Phoenix.

While you may still know it as Bank One Ballpark, Chase Field is the home of the Diamondbacks and a 10 minute walk from our hotel. A private tour has been reserved for ACUA at 12:30 pm immediately following Tuesday’s business meeting.

• Meet in the hotel lobby immediately following the end of the business meeting and no later than   12:15 pm. We’ll leave at 12:20 to walk to the tour. Most of the tour is not air conditioned. The tour is wheelchair accessible.

Advanced registration and payment is required via our Eventbrite registration site available here. The password is ACUA. The ticket is $5, plus processing fees to Eventbrite when you purchase, for a grand total of $6.27- quite a deal to see the home of the Diamondbacks and mingle with your fellow ACUA colleagues.

• Please note: Due to Chase Field’s payment requirements, registration for this tour will close on Monday, September 11 and no refunds will be available.

• Tour ends at 1:45pm. You’ll be back to the hotel in time to join the Heard Museum tour or after take a bonus session.

A quick ride on the Light Rail will take us to the Heard Museum, dedicated to the sensitive and accurate portrayal of Native arts and cultures since its founding in 1929. The ACUA group tour is scheduled for 3:00 pm and will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by the opportunity to explore the museum’s galleries until it closes at 5:00 pm.


• Meet in the conference hotel lobby at 2:15pm, head to the nearby Light Rail station to purchase day passes for $4, and catch the next Light Rail to the Encanto/Central stop. (If you’ll have a car and prefer, there is free parking available at the Museum, but please meet in the hotel lobby first.)

• Please RSVP for this networking event so we can provide an accurate count for the tour planner on our Eventbrite registration site here. The password is ACUA. No need to pay in advance.

• Admission fee of $18 cash-only will be collected in the hotel lobby. Please note: Amanda Perkins will museum payment from you, as the museum will not accept individual payments. You’ll be responsible for paying for your Light Rail ticket at the machine before boarding (cash and credit accepted for Light Rail ticket purchase).

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance distributes food to nearly 500 nonprofits in Arizona. In just 2 hours, our group of 30 volunteers can help sort and pack enough food to provide more than 17,000 meals. Please join us to help improve the lives of Arizonans in need while getting a chance to chat with your fellow ACUA members.
