MEMBERSHIP

HOW DO I APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ACUA?
Interested in joining ACUA? You may submit an online application or request an application be faxed to you.

WHAT IS THE COST FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ACUA?
Currently dues are $350 for either institutional or corporate members. Individual memberships are available if circumstances are such that an institutional or corporate membership is unattainable.

WHAT ARE ACUA'S MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES?
ACUA has Institutional, Corporate and Individual memberships. Click here for more detailed descriptions.

HOW DO I RENEW MY DUES?
For our members' convenience, renewing is a simple click away. Be sure you are logged in to get your pre-populated information.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INSTITUTIONAL AND CORPORATE MEMBERSHIPS?
Institutional memberships are open only to higher educational institutions and related offices. These memberships provide the following benefits: access to proprietary sections of the ACUA Web site; access to the ACUA-L list serve; opportunity to run for office in ACUA elections; one vote in ACUA elections by the institutional representative; discounted rates for ACUA conferences for the employees of the member institution; one subscription to the ACUA journal and access to the electronic newsletter.

Corporations and businesses not in the business of education are not eligible for institutional memberships. These memberships provide for discounted conference rates for employees of the corporate member and one subscription to the ACUA journal. There are also opportunities for corporate members to become sponsors at ACUA events. Corporate members are not given access to the ACUA Web site.

ARE MEMBERSHIP DUES PRORATED?
No. Memberships run on a calendar year (January 1–December 31) and begin the month in which payment is received. Renewals are done annually at the beginning of each year and are not based on your date of joining.

HOW DO I GET A PASSWORD FOR THE MEMBERS ONLY SECTION OF THE WEB SITE?
Your ID and password are assigned by the ACUA office and are specific to your name and e-mail address. Members are initially assigned a generic password. The first time you log into the Web site, you will be prompted to change this password to one of your choice. If you have already logged in and made the chage, the generic password will no longer work.

If you forgot your password, enter your e-mail address in the field provided on the login screen and your information will be sent to you.

MY PASSWORD DOESN'T WORK. WHAT DO I DO?
Because your password is linked directly to your membership record, it will continue to work as long as your membership dues are in good standing. Dues are billed at the end of one year and are due no later than the first quarter of the dues year. If your dues are still outstanding, your password will no longer work after that time.

WHAT EVENTS DOES ACUA SPONSOR?

In addition, ACUA is offering a SANS Institute class for one week prior to the 2008 Midyear Seminar. This premier program covers computer security issues and auditing.

I’D LIKE TO ADD SOMETHING TO THE RESOURCE LIBRARY. HOW DO I DO THAT?
Please complete the Resource Library Submission form found in the Forms section and indicate what area of content your document(s) should be applied to. I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO ACCESS THE RISK DICTIONARY.
If the error message you see is “No Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition v 1.3 support for APPLET!!” then you probably don't have the latest version of Javascript, the language used in the Risk Dictionary programming. Try visiting the Java Web site to download the newest version.
